Everything went as we hoped and in the last week on Sal we
got the waves we wanted. Three really good days in Ponta
Preta, good 4m high and as clean as I've ever seen. At the
beginning you are still slowly getting closer to the
breaking part of the wave, you can see from the top of the
wave the rocky coast and under you the sharp stones. On
the last day we want to know it, if something breaks it is
not so bad. A real horny day of surfing in the best waves
I've ever seen. Even after a stong wash cycle I could test
the not really easy exit over the stones with repeatedly
incoming waves. Fortunately, everything has remained intact,
only the board has a few less scratches. Unfortunately, we
had no more camera in the last week, but there are some of
the beautiful freestyle sessions on Sao Vicente. Also the
video is online, enjoy it.

I'm writing from Sao Vicente, an island of the Cape Verde
Islands. First I flew with Valentin from Hamburg to Sal,
where we met Adrian Beholz and Jo Reitberger. In one week,
we had 4 days with wind and unfortunately only one day
with waves that were not what we had hoped for Sal. The
intention was to fly by plane to the island of Sao Vicente.
The problem, that the People at the airport said suddenly
the plane was too full and they could not take our surf
equipment. Okay, so let's go just with the ferry it costs
only the half. There was already the next problem, it was
Carnival and the whole week was no ferry. Almost resigned
to that, we will spend the whole 5 weeks on Sal, we have
the info in the fishing port that there is a cargo ship
to Sao the next day. Hard to believe we still were able to
go with our surf equipment. After a 16hour very up and down
boat trip we arrived in the early morning. We are living
here in the small village of Sao Pedro 20m from the sea.
For dining, there are usually fish that is sold fresh
directly across from the fishing boat is also on the
doorstep for 1 € / kg. It is currently mating season for
the whales, so we were able to see several from the beach.
Now we are here for 2 weeks and I cannot remember a day
where I was not on the water. We could also film a lot, so
it will be a video again. The plan now is to spend another
week here and at the end it still on Sal in the hope to get
a decent wave at Ponta Preta then.

There are a few problems with the Dahab video.. Jonas
disk is unfortunately broken and he had not backed up any
of the new files. I only have a couple of few clips on my
laptop and so I will try to cut a really small video in
the next few days. What's still new? Wow, I could hardly
believe it, that I had received spontaneous a wildcard
for the World Cup in Sylt freestyle. Of course it was a
great experience and a very awesome event, which was
great fun. The result could of course be better, but it
is after all my first international competition and that's
why I went there with no expectations. In the 10 days we
had very good wind and not easy freestyle conditions, but
it's not new for Sylt. I have uploaded some new photos.
What's next, firstonce I hope I can use my new Rodeo in
the next few weeks, before it is getting colder and the
stressful learning process begins again. For the holidays
in February I try to plan a trip to the island Sal from
the Cape Verde, but I will see if it works.

There are some news. My second Semester was more time
consuming than the first and so I just surf 2 times in 4
whole months. I had a nice day with Valentin in
Großenbrode and the other day at the Saaler Bodden by the
German Freestyle Battle. In Saal were crazy Conditions,
I used my smallest sail 3,7qm and the Water was only 20cm
deep. Some nasty crashes were not to avoid, but it was a
really awesome event that I finished at 7th. As a summer
destination I chose Dahab, because I wanted to get ahead
in freestyle and wanted to learn new moves. We were 8
people and had first 3 very good weeks. Even a trip to
the Blue Lagoon were inside, a very hot spot and a nice
experience in the middle of the desert without running
water and electricity. The last two weeks the wind was
unfortunately very low and we get the new tricks not so
beautifully on camera. Nevertheless, I will upload a new
little video in the next coming weeks. Check also the new
pictures. Now the study starts soon in hope to have a bit
more time for surfing.

Now, four weeks in Kapstadt are over. It's a great place
to survive the winter ! I hadn't much luck with the wind,
so it was just possible to jump on four days of my trip.
The waves were often very good so it was perfect for
(wave) surfing, though. We've been to a few spots like
Kap, Witsands, Milnerton, Sunset, Melkbos, Patanosta or
for freestyling at Langebaan and even at the sea at Table
View. Kapstadt has much to offer! Windless days we used
to go wakeboarding or other days to become acquainted
with the city. Hopefully i won't be here for the last
time! In my gallery are new pictures for you and in the
next weeks there'll be uploaded a little video from Dennis
and me. Now, my studies are going on but as the days
become longer and the temperature warmer, the season in
Germany can start properly!

Finally, the stress of my exams are over and the flight
ended after a 18 hours long trip. Dennis Müller picked
me up with his rented VW Golf from the airport. It's
hard to get used to drive on the left side of the road.
As we arrived at the accomandation, we threw our bags
away and ran directly to the waves of Melkbos. These
waves are incredibly clean if you compare it to the
north sea. It was pretty nice to be on surfboard again.
At the second day we drove already to the southest
point of Africa - The Cape of Good Hope. There were
waves mast top high which was very impressive. The
following days the wind decelerated so we went to
Langebaan for a freestyle session and climbed on Table
Mountain to enjoy the view over Kapstadt. Tomorrow the
wind will refresh again!

When studies began once, there's barely time left to
write something here! Beside the learning, I've got
a mini-job, which leaves me even less time to be on
the water. I can count my surftrips to Büsum, Meldorf
and Fehmarn on two hands. Additionally the days are
closing in and it's getting cold, which makes it
harder to have a good time outside! As result I sold
my beloved surfbus and will spend my non-term in the
warm, sunny south of Africa. I just can't wait to spend
my time there. I'm going to know new cultures and maybe
the most beautiful and strongest waves I've ever seen!
But currently I need to focus on my studies. The first
written tests are coming soon!

At the beginning the time at Gran Canaria was great.
Crossing with the ferry was relaxed and in the evening
there was a strong breeze. The quarters directly at
the spot were good, material storing was inclusive and
the people were nice. All was just a bit more expensive
than the price Rene Egli takes for storing at the center.
The first days had the highest waves but I warmed up
very quickly. So, after a few days, the backloop worked
out. But then at the 6th day, the most rubbish thing
happened: Unfortunately my waveboard broke right in the
middle. I had to spend the rest of my holidays couched
in the sun. Bummer! So, now I'm forced to concentrate on
freestyle the upcoming weeks. Anyway it was a great trip
to Pozo and gained more experience at least! The gallery
is updated and the next days there'll be a short clip.
In addition, I'll use F2 boards in the future! But first
I will go back to Hamburg to search for a flat and start
my studies!

Four weeks at fuerte have been great. Everyday it was
windy but perfect conditions were rare. Often the wind
wasn't constant and there isn't as flat water as at
Norderney's sandbanks but we had a good time anyway.
Especially 'cause made my first shakas and ponchs.
Now I'll spend ten days at pozo, gran canaria for my
first backloop tries in the waves. After a few weeks
I'm going directly back to Hamburg. I got to find a
flat there because i'll start the preparations for my
studies there in september. So you'll meet me at places
like Grossenbrode, Meldorf and spots in the north of
Germany.

The German Freestyle Battle 1.0 2011 at Norderney was
successful! I came in 5th and was very happy about it.
There wasn't so much wind the last weeks at Norderney but
I could enjoy the sun with my friends for lots of times.
As I left the island I was a bit sad. Though have been home
for 18 days. The first days I used for working 'cause I
needed to gain money for the trip to Fuerteventura. In my
free time I met my friends and checked up things for
university. I'd like to go to Hamburg for studying
mechanical engineering in October. I hope I will be admitted!
Actually my plan for this summer is staying at Fuerte for 4
weeks and travel by a ship to Pozo, Gran Canary. I hope I'll
catch some good waves for jumping there 'cause I'd like to
improve the back- and pushloop.

Excuse me for writing so late. We had a lot to do 'cause we
worked on our ziviney movie. In the end it's finished now and
I think all the work paid off. See it for yourself!
There are lots of news. Adrian Beholz and me organized the
stand-by phase for the first German Freestyle Battle 2011 at
Norderney. The primary three weeks it wasn't possible to start
it because of the bad wind forecast. However, maybe next weekend
is great wind. We hope so, keeping our fingers crossed! :)
The last weeks I could improve myself a lot. I preside over the
switch kono, one handed funnel and lots of other moves work out
much better. So in the upcoming weeks i will start with the first
powermoves like burner and shaka.
For me,there are only five weeks left at Norderney and I enjoy
my last days as much as I can. After leaving I'll travel to
Fuerteventura once more. My flight is allready booked for the
18th of july and I'll stay about 2 month.

Yeah, the first two weeks in the cold Germany began pretty well.
Some days we've been sailing between the sandbanks, where you've
got great flatwater conditions. At one weekend, we had powerful
wind from the west. Therefore we all met at the Januskopf, to
catch some good waves. The conditions were fantastic, so we
jumped into the sky. There were backloops, frontloops, extreme
high jumps and hard crashes. The Ziviney movie progresses! More
action, better film equipment and an absorbing story - Time to
check out our new pictures from Norderney! www.Ziviney.de
The temperature is getting better, so I'm looking forward to
the upcoming time here.

I'm back from my winter trip in Egypt. I met there some other German
Freestylers. In the first 2 weeks I could score 10 days on the water.
2 days of that were really nice, we had a lot of fun and could make
some action on the water. In the last week the wind dropped down and
we used the time to relax in the sun, played pool and made party.
One windless day we made a trip up to the next mountain and the view
was amazing. We made a few photos and filmed 2 interviews. I couldn't
believe that we had 3 rainy days, one of that with hails. The
statistic means Dahab has normally 2 days with rain per year. The
whole trip the guys and I filmed a lot and so will be a new video the
next days. All of that the 3 weeks were a nice time with good friends
on the water and also at the beach, but I couldn't learn some new
moves. Hope I can score some good sessions on Norderney next time.
The Gallery is updated with new photos of Dahab.

Sorry for writing so late. My foot is regenerated, I already feel
it but I can go surfing. I could test it two times on Norderney
and than the winter came too fast. Everywhere snow and ice in the
sea. Now I could flee to Dahab for 3 weeks. Bonaire is too
expensive unfortunately. Hopefully I can store many good days.
Some Friends and me will make a short video clip with the new
Panasonic HDC-HS700.

After one month living on Norderney I can say the island can give
perfect conditions in flat-water and waves. But after the third
week I hurt my feet again. The same move, the same feet and also
the same break, 6 weeks without surfing. I can start in the
beginning of December and will be full of concentration to learn
the shaka and switch kono. In January I plan a 4 week winter trip,
maybe Bonaire or Dahab. Another important project for me is the
Ziviney Movie. The other guys here and I working on a short surf
movie about Norderney. The Trailer is almost finishing.

My community service has started. Now I live on the German island
Norderney for 9 months to work and also to Windsurf. Saturday was
my first day on the water after my Injury and it was good. There
are a lot of Sandbanks, which are perfect for Freestyle. Nest week
I will get my new Hardcore Wave Quad Board in 76l. So I can start
to rip the Waves at Januskopf. The other Guys here and I will make
a big surf movie about the island. Hopefully we will get nice
9 months with a lot of wind.
